In the Footsteps of History: Then & Now
In my opinion, it's always a great day to learn history. It's the story of who we are; where we came from. But there is something special about standing in the footsteps of history. Whether it's a battlefield or a football field, standing in the places that history occurred reveals something special.
Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain, a hero at the Battle of Gettysburg often returned to the rocky hillside where he helped make history. On one such occasion, he told his onlookers, "In great deeds, something abides. On great fields, something stays." Whether it's Gettysburg, Antietam, or Washington,DC, I love to stand in the footsteps of history, close my eyes, and feel the history around me. |
